The rigid chain is interconnected through chain links, forming a block like rigid rod under the action of forward thrust. Each chain link has an outward extending part called the "shoulder", which is interlocked with adjacent chain links. In the reversing box, the chain moves in a straight line through two steel plates. The chain is stored in a chain box and can be wound multiple times.
